AW21 Homeware Trends
Posted on 28 April by
One of the biggest electronic sellers over the past year has been multi-function devices, as a way to up-tech our make-shift home offices. So it’s no surprise that most of the new homewares and design for the season have been created to support the idea of multi-function spaces.
With our living rooms, kitchens and spare corners being conscripted to work-from-home duty, and more of us spending more time indoors than ever before, the focus is on quality, clever details that tick both the ‘pretty’ and ‘practical’ boxes at once. Pieces that help us better organise new cables and gadgets; stools that can also serve as side tables; chairs that will support you for a full day of emailing and zooming but won’t look out of place as an extra seat at the dinner table.
On the style front, we can definitely see parallels with the fashion world, and the universal desire to be closer to nature. The warm, natural and earthy tones that feature in this season’s key fashion trends have hit the home too, with beige, brown, grey and the full palette of neutrals being applied to all manner of home furnishings. Curved, organic shapes that soothe and cocoon, couple with heavy natural fabrics and materials, like wood and metal not only help establish a true sense of home, but help promote wellness and calm, and bring the serenity of nature into our indoor experience.
