Our tips to your best Christmas yet

Tis the season
From the smell of fresh Christmas bush to the taste of delicious food and the feeling of joy, Christmas truly ‘tis the season to be jolly’. Truth be told as much as we love Christmas it really is the busiest and craziest season. Along with the good vibes, great food and Christmas cheer comes a long list of shopping, food prepping and planning. With “to do’s” growing at the same pace as your children’s wish list for Santa, the season can quickly become a frazzled mess as chaotic as the branches on last year’s artificial Christmas tree.
That’s why this year we’ve gotten in early, started the preparation before Santa’s sleigh hits the deck, and thought long and hard about what it is that makes us yearn for another Christmas as soon as it's gone. All tinsel aside we’ve dug deep into the roots of Christmas and found just what it is that makes the season so special and believe it or not, we aren’t just talking about Christmas Crackling. Keep with us and read below to see our best kept secrets to stay up-to-speed with Christmas cheer, and fully embrace the Holiday Spirit.
Step one – Turn on the carols. Say goodbye to your regular genre and ditch the hardstyle rap or rock n roll for some upbeat feel-good jingles. As uncool as it may be to get caught singing Michael Bublé at the traffic lights, we can assure you, you’ll feel good for it. There’s no better way to shape up your mood for Christmas than with a sing-a-long to some old-time favourites and a bit of toe-tapping magic. Join us in the centre daily over the Christmas period for an amazing atmosphere built on carol singers and live bands. Plus join us on December 12 for the Youth Spectacular to witness the Central Coasts best youth talent. Details available here.
Step Two – Bedazzle the house and deck the halls. Wrap it, hang it, make it or create it. Christmas is best celebrated when it’s decked out in décor. Take the time to have some fun this Christmas and dress the house in glitz. From shiny tinsel to glistening Christmas lights, there’s no reason why you can’t make your house into a living Christmas dream. If you’re looking to get the kids a little creative too, then think about dropping into our Christmas Nanny service and let your children lose themselves in the magic of Christmas crafts led by qualified childcare professionals. For more information see the Events section on our website with all details live on 4 December
Step Three – Make peace with Christmas and do something that makes you feel good. Pull out the craft box, put on some carols and create your very own Christmas decorations. There’s something incredibly special about DIY décor and especially at Christmas time. Gather a group of friends, embrace your crafty self and get a kick out of making something lovely. If you are stuck for ideas on where to start, then why not book yourself in for one of our Wreath Making workshops. Details and booking available here.
Step Four – Make the memories last. Capture the moment this Christmas and bring as many people together as possible. Get out your camera, take some photos with your loved ones and make the memories last. Create a scrapbook of all your favourite Christmas memories, construct your very own coffee table brag book, or if you aren’t the photography type visit Erina Fairs Christmas Wonderland for Santa photos. Located in centre court, you can get your very own Christmas photo taken by Santa’s little helpers. If you’re short for time, you can ‘jump the queue’ and book a time that suits you here.
Step five – Buy something special. Christmas is a time of giving and if there is ever going to be a time to indulge yourself, your friends and your family then December is it. Create your own Secret Santa, celebrate the ones you love and buy something worth giving. The best bit is that Christmas is also a time of great deals and major savings. Check out the catalogues and online offers on the Erina Fair website and be sure you don't miss a bargain. If you are stuck on ideas or time, then start a Christmas list and plan your shopping before you hit the stores. If you’re still stuck for inspiration, then visit the girls at the Customer Service Desk and give the gift of choice. Purchase a gift card for your special someone and let them choose their perfect gift(s) whilst on a Boxing Day shopping spree.
Step six – Help someone in need- This Christmas find the joy in giving to others and support those that need an extra bit of help. Donate to a local charity, buy a a child in need a gift and stick it under the Kmart Wishing Tree or have your gifts wrapped by the volunteers from The Ronald McDonald Family room for a donation (from 12 December). We all know that often the greatest gift we may ever receive is the satisfaction from helping others.
Christmas truly is a time of celebration, family and warm festivities that keep us busy and bright. With its many overwhelming sensations and frantic enchantment, it’s no surprise December is titled the most wonderful time of the year. As the jingle bells call Erina Fair becomes home to much celebration and a hub for Christmas spirit with school performances, big bands and choirs. Beneath the hustle and bustle, the buying and giving the singing and eating, don’t forget to enjoy some downtime. Sit back, relax and take the time to enjoy your family and friends. After all it ‘tis the season.
Merry Christmas from Erina Fair.
